Workshop: The Myth of Eros and Psyche

September 28 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm

This two hour workshop will introduce the basic elements of this foundational Greek myth, with a focus on a re-creation of key scenes in the myth through the use of “guided” improvisational movement, music, and oration. All levels of experience and backgrounds are welcomed. It is not a “requirement” to have a dance background, but-importantly- to have an openness to experiencing this myth in a personal way through moving in spontaneous expression with music and oration. The structure of this workshop is loosely inspired by the ancient Greek theater, and the use of the “chorus” in amplifying the work. Our contemporary understanding of this myth is based upon writings in archetypal psychology and the power of our unconscious energies and images within our own psyches, which are all grounded in our connection to our physical body.

The workshop will be held on Saturday September 28th, 2024, from 3pm until 5pm. This workshop is designed to be participatory, and builds on our collective energies. Be prepared to stay for the entire two hours. It is the intention of this workshop to be exploratory -a prelude to the possibility of further collaborative development.

Cost: free, donations appreciated.   Register HERE

The workshop is led by Therese Kovach. She has a doctorate degree in psychology, with specialized interest in archetypal and mythic works, and also has an additional background in painting, clay sculpture and movement.
