World Dance Series: Afro-Caribbean Dance Social

The World Dance Series, a partnership between Steele Dance and MAGMA, is pleased to feature Laci Chisholm for an Afro-Caribbean Dance Social. The evening will start with a short performance, followed by a lesson for everyone. No dance background needed. Then we will continue with a dance party, celebrating with energetic dance and music! Laci Chisholm

Laci Chisholm has been dancing nearly as long as she has been walking. She is a performer and instructor in many genres of dance, including African, Jazz, Dancehall, Haitian, Hip-Hop, Salsa, Soca, and Tap.  A native of South Carolina, Laci studied dance at University of North Carolina (Chapel Hill). While there, she also established a Hip Hop performance team for young people in the community. Laci moved to New York City in 2006 to study dance intensively and obtained a Masters of Science in Education from Hunter College.

Laci is an accomplished choreographer and has performed in a range of venues including the legendary Apollo Theater and on the Rachael Ray Show. She often integrates dance styles reflecting her training in Hip Hop, Haitian, Modern, Jazz and West African. Laci owns and operates the Fit4Dance studio in Brooklyn, while performing and educating throughout NYC.
