Classes meet 12/3\, 12/10\, and 12/17\, cost is $50 for all three classes. \nBUY NOW \nAbout Shaela \nShaela’s dance journey began in childhood\, evolving into a lifelong passion for movement. She has trained extensively in Ballet\, Pointe\, Tap\, Jazz\, Modern\, Hip-Hop\, and Contemporary. While living in Boston for 10 years\, Shaela worked with prominent dance companies like DanceWorks Boston and Phunk Phenomenon\, performing and choreographing for professional and semi- professional groups. Her talent has led her to opportunities such as NBA halftime shows\, competing in global and national competitions including World of Dance\, and even appearances in films. With additional training and performances in both Boston and New York City\, Shaela’s style fuses the elegance of Contemporary with the rhythm of Hip-Hop. Her classes focus on technique\, flow\, and creativity\, offering dancers of all levels an opportunity to express themselves and grow.

Author of The Thinking Body (1937)\, Mabel Ellsworth Todd\, called it Natural Posture (1923)\, but she began her studies in 1906. For those of us who attended Andre Bernard’s classes at New York University in the ‘70s and ‘80s\, Ideokinesis was the word we used. Through imagery\, movement\, and touch\, ideokinesis opens the door for somato-emotional change\, releasing holding patterns and relieving pain. She currently teaches with Boston Lindy Hop\, Ignis Arts\, and Balter Dance as well as drop-in lessons for Boston Swing Central\, Eclipse Fusion\, and Second Sun Rising and loves seeing how different dance styles grow from and influence one another.

DESCRIPTION:The Bang Group’s version of The Nutcracker is part holiday tradition\, part laugh-out-loud comedy\, and totally unforgettable dance! Mashing jazz\, tap\, disco\, ballet\, hip hop and comedy\, you are bound to have a blast watching or dancing it! We’ll do a 30 minute barre to the soundtrack\, and learn Mirlitons and Slavic Disco choreography. \nClasses meet Thursdays 12/12 and 12/19\, 5:45-7:15pm. $18 per class \nSIGN UP \nTaught by Carey McKinley\nCarey performed with The Bang Group in 2008. In 2015\, she returned to the stage with 12 of her students dancing alongside the company. Carey performed and taught 5 sections of this brilliant and accessible choreography.
