DESCRIPTION:The MAGMA Dance and Performance Team\, which meets for  rehearsals on Saturdays from 12:30-2:30pm\, is an amazing opportunity to grow your talent and skills as a dance/movement artist. Work with professional mentors to help you guide and challenge you as you create your own choreographies. The Spring Session session runs March 23 through June 16. Cost: $75/month for MAGMA students\, $100/month for non-MAGMA students. \nAges 9-18 are invited to audition. \nDance Team is an audition-based group\nIN-PERSON AUDITION: March 2nd\, 1-2pm\, at MAGMA \nSTEP 1: REGISTER – the registration is free. You must register here whether doing in-person or video audition. \nSTEP 2: Attend live audition on March 2nd\, or submit video audition NO LATER THAN March 1.  \nFor video\, email sarah.slifer.swift@gmail.com\, and attach video via Google Drive or other large file sharing method. Video should be about one minute in length and have you dancing your own of someone else’s choreography\, or improvising.

DESCRIPTION:We’re hosting a 4-class Dancehall workshop series with Jeff Jean-Phillipe to bring the heat this Spring! \nDancehall is a high-energy style of dance emanating from Jamaica. These workshops will be open to all experience levels\, working on the basic moves and rhythms in the style. \n$20 per class\, or $65 for all 4 classes \nDATES: March 28\, 6:30-7:30pm SIGN UP \n April 7\, 4-5pm  SIGN UP \n April 18\, 6:30-7:30pm SIGN UP \nMay 2\, 6:30-7:30pm SIGN UP \nAbout Jeff Jean-Phillipe: Jeff Jean-Philippe\, a versatile artist\, is quickly becoming one of New England’s premier Hip Hop educators and choreographers. Originally from Montreal\, Quebec\, and living in northern Massachusetts\, Jeff’s passion for the art of dance grew quickly while studying under some of North America’s top and original Hip Hop teachers\, including Amari Marshal\, Super Dave\, Jamar Hopkins\, and Brian “Footwork” Green. His training in hip-hop and street dance culture is extensive and includes dancehall\, break dancing\, Chicago footwork\, house\, popping\, locking\, animation\, whacking\, Afro-house\, Krump\, and more. \nJeff has taught at a series of masterclasses\, workshops\, conventions\, and colleges throughout the East Coast and Canada; Jeff also judges at various dance competitions and battle events. His high-energy classes strongly focus on Hip-Hop foundation\, technique\, and fundamentals keeping the essence of the culture and contemporary and modern elements. He is also the leading pioneer of a new form of Latin dance called\, Kimpada\, which is a fusion of Kizomba\, Kompa\, Bachata\, and Zouk.  \nJeff has performed with numerous local dance companies from Boston\, in ballets\, in commercials\, and on tv shows (SYTYCD season 12\, top 30)\, as a backup dancer\, and in musicals. He Has recently been featured in music videos of big names such as the hip-hop artist Joyner Lucas and The legendary Dancehall artist Mr.Vegas. Jeff is the founder and director of his own hip-hop\, contemporary/modern-focused company\, The Expressive Movement\, which recently toured the East Coast\, Canada\, and went international. \n Since opening his business\, “Our Space” a holistic and multicultural Arts center\, Jeff enjoys sharing his knowledge and passion for art\, holistic wellness\, and Afro-diosparic lineage\, most importantly\, guiding\, coaching\, and mentoring the health and wellness of all humans.

But if we view creativity not as something we have but as something that moves through us\, all we need to do is open ourselves to that creative energy and it will begin to flow through us. \nREAD MORE \nIn this workshop\, Caitlin will guide you through a series of practices that will teach you to make like the Magician\, channel divine inspiration and manifest it into *art that comes from your most authentic self. \n*any creative expression including (but not limited to) visual art\, dance\, poetry\, creative writing and music \nIn this workshop\, you will:  \n*Co-create a sacred container: setting the stage for creativity to flow is a crucial first step!
