SUMMARY:Contra Dance
DESCRIPTION:Easy to Learn New England Style Contra\, Square & Circle Dances \nwith Caller Rose Sheehan and live music \n$15-25 sliding scale per person\, notaflof\, under 16 free \nNEW SCHEDULE: \n6-7pm Family Dance – contra dances geared towards families with young children \n7-9pm Contra Dance – all ages and levels welcome \nBUY TIX ONLINE    Tix will also be available at the door. \nAbout Family Dance Hour (6:00–7:00 PM) \nGeared roughly for ages 4–10 and their families\, this hour is designed as a warm\, welcoming launchpad for the main event. It gives younger dancers a chance to burn off energy\, learn the core figures\, and build confidence with accessible instruction. \nWe encourage families to stay for the regular dance that follows! Younger children can put their new skills into practice during the early sets of the main evening\, dance in tandem with a parent\, or simply relax and enjoy the live music. Whether your family stays for one set of the main dance or the whole night\, you are welcome to make the evening your own. \nNEXT DATE: Saturday November 14 \nChildren & Families at Our Contra Dance \nWe love having children and families as part of our contra dance community! Nurturing young enthusiasm for live music\, movement\, and tradition is at the heart of what we do\, and kids are always welcome to join in the fun. \nTo keep our events enjoyable and safe for everyone\, we ask for your help with a few basic safety guidelines when children are not on the dance floor: \n\nParticipate in the dances: Children’s readiness to manage dance structure varies\, so we rely on parental judgement rather than fixed age limits.\nKeep the floor clear during sets: Because contra dancing involves fast-moving lines\, unexpected turns\, and backing up without looking\, active dancers cannot easily dodge someone darting across the room. Please ensure children refrain from running around the hall or playing between the lines while a dance is in progress to prevent trips and collisions.

SUMMARY:When the People Could Fly: a Trance Dance Somovement Journey
DESCRIPTION:Facilitated by Hadley Mays \nTrance Dance\, experiential anatomy and somatic movement for an integrated\nbody-mind and soul journey \nThis experience situates itself within a perspective\, that there is no separation between the physical and the spiritual dimensions: the human experience is a spiritual experience\, and the human body is both the material of and gateway to infinite dimensions of spirit and cosmos. We can navigate these dimensions through ecstatic and kinetic states of consciousness. Come fly with me: flight as dance\, as soul venture\, spirit journey and kinetic trance. Dive into a place where your vast interiority opens into the deep space of manifold intelligence. \nThe Practice begins with somatic movement to prepare our bodyminds for trance and the extended ranges of our somatic perceiving. Then we Trance Dance\, a blindfolded ritual dance process using breath\, movement\, and rhythm. Trance Dance is a co-creative call to action with the sacred spirit world; our intention sets a course\, our soul unfolds. \nCost: $25-40 sliding scale\, no one turned away for lack of funds – BUY NOW \nThe Facilitator \n\nHadley Mays is a certified practitioner of the Trance Dance ritual\, created by Wilbert Alix and Frank Natale from collected shamanic traditions and practices spanning over 40\,000 years. She has lived\, worked\, trained\, healed and played in altered states\, trance and the visionary realms throughout my life in many different countries\, cultures\, and contexts. \nBrief Bio\nHadley Mays is an interdisciplinary theater & movement artist\, teacher of contemporary performance\, and workshop facilitator\, and I am currently on faculty at Boston Conservatory. She holds an MFA in Theater and Contemporary Performance\, graduate studies in Psychology and Counseling\, and many years of experience and independent research in culture\, ritual\, and performance studies. \nOther details: Please wear comfortable clothing you can move in and something that you can use as a blindfold.
