SUMMARY:XYZ of Yoga
DESCRIPTION:Yoga\, a 5000-year tradition within the human era\, is actually based on earlier phylogenetic stages of the animal kingdom. Participants\, trained or new to a Yoga practice\, will explore these ancient\, fundamental positions (asanas) through the lens of developmental movement patterns that are basic to all humans and animals in locomotion. \nThis three-part workshop of movement\, visualization and experiential anatomy will serve to discover the evolutionary underpinnings of Yoga and build a developmental vocabulary for your Asana practice that is sourced from the natural world in overlapping waves. \nIt is optimal to attend all workshops due to the flow of knowledge being shared. However\, do not hesitate to attend\, if you must miss a session. We will catch you up! \nFebruary  9 The Starfish and the axial skeleton\nMarch 9 The Frog and the Lizard\nMarch 30  From Mammal to Human\nAll dates meet from 2 to 4:30pm \nPricing\nSIngle workshop: $35 \nAll three: $75 \nFor more information feel free to call Magma (978) 381-3494 or Kate at 802 257 0855. \nKate Tarlow Morgan\, dancer/choreographer\, author\, and teacher is editor-in-chief of Currents Journal for the Body-Mind Centering Association\, and editorial consultant for Lost & Found Poetics Document Initiative at C.U.N.Y-Center for Humanities. As sole archivist of The Rhythms Fundamentals\, based on the study of human and animal natural movement\, Kate teaches in local area schools and studios. Her book of NYC-based essays and stories\, Circles & Boundaries\, (Factory School) was published in 2011.  The Gloucester Writers Center and Trident Gallery has been recent home to Kate’s “dance-formation” events that are inspired by poets\, painters and performers of the 20th c.\, including Charles Olson\, Paul Valery\, Lee Nagrin\, Margie Beals\, Andre Bernard and Marvin Israel.
